Biomedical engineering curriculum: Should it be the bioengineering curriculum?

Abstract

This paper highlights one disturbing intellectual dilemma "deciding on a definition of Biomedical Engineering (BME)" that faces BME curricula developers in Australia. It reports on the shortcomings of the Australian curricula in trying encompass biotechnology in classical biomedical engineering courses.
