A study is made of the changes in growth rates and phase speeds of growing baroclinic waves, disturbance streamfunctions, eddy momentum and heat fluxes induced by superimposing long planetary waves on purely zonal flow basic states in a five-level spherical quasi-geostrophic model.- from Author
