Abstract
In the past fewdecades significant advances have been made in our understanding of what happens to drugs and their concentrations in blood and other specimens collected for a medicolegal death investigation. This chapter reviews various artifacts and processes known to occur after death that affect drug concentrations, with an emphasis on postmortem drug redistribution and its implications for interpreting analytical results.
