Abstract

Yiwarlarlay 1, the Lightning Brothers site, was excavated by the authors in 1989. The site contained evidence of human occupation dating back to the last 700 yr or so, although it is not until the last 150 yr, after the arrival of Europeans, that there is any in situ evidence for artistic activity in the shelter. In this paper we record the Lightning Brothers Dreaming story as was recorded by the authors in 1989, and present complete lists of materials excavated at the site. -Authors
