Abstract
Information and communication technologies are a central element of educational services and pedagogical practices of the contemporary era. Educational institutions are overwhelmed with digital systems and tools, while individuals are increasingly carrying out educational journeys and learning mediated (partially or entirely) by technologies. Above all, educational technologies today represent a multi-billion dollar industry and involve an increasing number of international companies in national education systems. In this context, the critical approaches of technologies in education seem to us more relevant than ever. The purpose of this article is to paint a portrait, starting by recalling their relevance and their theoretical foundations. We then give an overview of the studies which have been attached to it in the past, before presenting the contemporary critical issues. Finally, we conclude by identifying future perspectives for critical approaches to technologies in education.
