Abstract

North Korea remains one of the least understood nations and cultures in the world. The translation of foreign works—books, films, animation—in North Korea, and the translation within North Korea of books and films for foreigners, have been little studied. In these regards, this book provides a unique window on North Korea. Understanding North Korea through translation illustrates both the
unique and the universal aspects of North Korean culture.
