Abstract

A highly efficient and facile procedure for the rearrangement various epoxides to carbonyl aldehydes by the catalytic system (C4H12N2)2[BiCl6]Cl·H2O/SiO2 at room temperature is developed. The methodology is applicable to a wide range of substrates. The catalyst is air-stable and environmentally friendly and can be recycled multiple times without noticeably losing its catalytic activity.
