Abstract

Since our well-being depends on a flourishing planet, climate change presents an immediate threat to human health. Morbidity and mortality due to extreme weather are also influenced by Social Determinants of Health such as economic wealth, access to healthcare, and racism, and overlaps with other public health crises. For example, exposure to fossil fuel pollution correlates inversely with the financial ability to live in a clean-air neighborhood, and increased respiratory illness from air pollution may exacerbate antimicrobial overuse and ultimately drive antimicrobial resistance.
