A systematic approach to find periodic sinks of the Henon map close to the classical case

Abstract

Using the combination of a method to find low period unstable periodic orbits and the continuation method it is demonstrated that there exist low-period sinks extremely close to the classical parameter values of the Henon map. The problem why these low-period sinks are rarely observed in computer simulations is discussed.
