Abstract
Australia's medical technology, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and digital health sector supports approximately 70,000 Australian jobs and contributed more than $5 billion in Gross Value Added (GVA) to the Australian economy in 2019. Its future is dependent on the skills of its workforce.
To better understand the sector's future workforce needs and skills gaps, an online survey was developed in consultation with MTPConnect and a cross-industry project team, including AusBiotech, ANDHealth, Medical Technology Association of Australia and Medicines Australia.
The findings of the survey, funded by MTPConnect and undertaken in June and July 2020, are captured in this report prepared by BehaviourWorks Australia, Monash Sustainable Development Institute, Monash University.
This report identifies current, emerging and future skills gaps that need to be addressed in order to drive growth in the Australian MTP sector.
