Abstract
A Novel DGS has been investigated to achieve better s-parameter performance than ever reported in the microwave literature. A chronological development in designs ranging from conventional square patterned photonic bandgap (PBG) structure and defected ground structures (DGS) to proposed novel DOS has been investigated theoretically and experimentally. Novel design results from the application of Chebyshev distribution in dimensions of the conventional DGS. The proposed novel DGS provides excellent performances in terms of ripples in the passband, sharp selectivity at the cut-off frequency and spurious free wide stopband.
