Abstract

A new strategy for the convergent assembly of six-membered polycyclic ether ring fragments has been developed based upon the novel reaction between vinylstannanes with triflates in the presence of a strong base. The application of the present method has allowed for a synthetic study of the EFGH ring of gambierol to be achieved. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd.
