Abstract
Design and experimental results of a low side-lobe sub-array composed of dual-aperture coupled rectangular microstrip patch antenna elements, suitable for portable ultra small aperture terminals (USATs), are presented. The dual-band dual-polarised antenna element achieves 21% input impedance bandwidth at S- and C-bands. Design of a series-parallel feed network and integration with an 8×8-element 30 dB sidelobe arrays with such an antenna element are also presented.
