A fortunate meeting: Working with Herbert on biobanks

Research output: Contribution to journalArticleOtherpeer-review

Abstract

I can clearly recall when I first met Herbert. We were sharing a queue for a buffet lunch at the Vital Politics conference, hosted by the newly established BIOS at LSE, in August 2003. Therefore, it was not that long ago. For me, this was a memorable, star-studded event – in fact, one of the more memorable genomics/genetics and society events of the many I have attended over the years. And, Herbert, immaculately dressed in a suit, which I came to recognize as his characteristic style, is a strong part of that memory. Our meeting at that BIOS event may seemmundane and unremarkable; however, I consider it fortunate.
