Abstract

In order to quantitatively and accurately analyze the influence of groundwater level fluctuation on moisture field, mechanical and deformation characteristics of foundation of high-speed railway, the cross section of the roadbed structure of a practical double-track high-speed ballastless track is taken as a typical research object. The numerical calculation theory of unsaturated seepage is used in the generation of two-dimensional plane strain finite element model, considering the resilience modulus and the stress level of cumulative plastic strain and moisture sensitivity of the bed filler. The distribution of effective saturation, pore pressure, resilience modulus, shear stress ratio, elastic strain and cumulative plastic strain of the roadbed affected by the fluctuation of groundwater level were studied accordingly. It shows that the effective saturation at the interfaces between track embankment layers increases due to the groundwater level fluctuation. The water accumulation causes various harm to the roadbed include the differential subsidence and shear failure of the interface between layers. The groundwater level fluctuation has insignificant impact on mechanical performance of roadbed before the groundwater level reaches up to the bottom of roadbed. However, the average vertical resilience modulus at the bottom of roadbed decreases with the increasing of groundwater level up to the bottom of roadbed. The variation of the average vertical resilience modulus at the top of roadbed is opposite to that of the bottom layer of the roadbed, while the average resilience modulus of the whole roadbed decreases. The most vulnerable locations are at the edges between concrete slabs and roadbed, as well as the lower part of roadbed under the double-line rail.
