Project Description

Teaching is not considered as one of the most sought after careers in India. It is rather one of the underpaid professions in the world, with an average salary of USD 6000, which is equivalent to the lowest payment of beginning teachers according to the OECD data (2016). Despite this, India does not face any shortage in teachers, but a steady increase in the number of teachers every year (OGDP, 2014). This project aims to explore the motivational factors influencing people choosing teaching career, and the impact of these initial motivations may have on their career aspirations and professional expectations
