WHY ARE MEN MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO PARKINSON’S DISEASE: A ROLE FOR THE MALE SPECIFIC GENE SRY?

Project: Research

Project Details

Project Description

The main aim of this project is to demonstrate the novel concept that the male sex determination gene SRY is a factor responsible for the susceptibility of males to Parkinson’s disease. We will address this by determining whether:
i)SRY is involved in Parkinson’s disease
ii)Inhibition of SRY function can reduce the progression of Parkinson’s disease
