Project Details
Project Description
The procedure for producing vehicle crashworthiness, aggressivity and total secondary safety ratings has been developed extensively over the program history and provides a valuable assessment of relative vehicle secondary safety in real crash experiences. More recently, methodology for estimating the primary safety index from real crash data has also been established and integrated into the ratings.
Aims
• To re-estimate the UCSRs by make, model and market group of vehicles, including crashworthiness, aggressivity, total secondary safety and primary safety components from an expanded crash database including 2018 data in order to improve the accuracy of the ratings and expand the range of vehicles covered.
• To extend the estimates of vehicle secondary safety by year of manufacture both overall and by vehicle market group to include 2018 data for both Australia and New Zealand.
