Project Description

Vibrational spectroscopies are powerful molecular probes that provide insights and novel solutions in physical sciences, biosciences, engineering and medicine. Their power is magnified many fold when coupled with purpose built ancillary equipment and powerful computer solutions. We are development novel instrumental techniques and software to solve a number of important chemical problems including: stimulating and probing the chemistry of interstellar dust particles, atmospheric aerosols and nano-particles; high resolution spectroscopic analysis of dimers and oligomers of water and of water complexes. The results will lead to a greater understanding of the Greenhouse effect, Global Warming and the origins of life.
