Unraveling the mechanisms by which chronic hepatitis B infection is associated with an increased risk of gestational diabetes: a prospective cohort study

Project: Research

Project Details

Project Description

Aim is to better understand how chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) increases in a woman's risk of developing gestational diabetes (GDM) during pregnancy. Women with HBV may be almost 88% more likely to develop GDM during their pregnancy but the mechanism is not well understood. Even when traditional risk factors are taken into account, there still remains an increased risk of almost 25%. To understand this, we will invite pregnant women with HBV to be followed throughout their pregnancy collecting information related to their HBV.
