The extended drought over the last ten years, followed by extreme floods, affecting both irrigation communities and water-dependent ecosystems has forced governments to redesign the management policies of the Murray-Darling Basin. this project will make a fundamental contribution to understanding the cultural and ecological triggers for water management policy within the catchment. One of the major outcomes will be an analytical tool that will improve the predictability and preciseness when developing water management policies against catchment degradation. This project will have a profound effect on catchment sustainability in Australia also mark a significant Australian contribution to a global problem
