Project Description
Additional supports for teachers in bushfire-impacted schools are being prioritised through the project Trauma informed practices and High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS) for teachers in bushfire-impacted schools.
The guidance is being delivered through the provision of tailored Factsheets and a series of Masterclasses in Term 2, 2021 that will support student learning and wellbeing in trauma-impacted contexts.
The pedagogical guidance and Masterclasses will support teacher use of evidence-based strategies known to assist the re-engagement, wellbeing and learning of their students. The expertise, consultation and delivery of the masterclasses in partnership with Monash University will support teacher understanding of the impact of adverse events and community-level trauma experiences and the implications for student learning.
Monash University brings extensive expertise in pedagogy and trauma informed pedagogical approaches to partner with the Teacher Professional Practice and the Trauma Recovery Team to deliver Trauma informed practices and High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS) for teachers in bushfire-impacted schools.
