Total Synthesis of Lamellarin Natural Products and Non-Natural Congenors / New Methodologies for Fischer Carbenes.

1. This project involves the facile synthesis of a recently isolated class of marine natural products and non-natural derivatives via a unique tandem reaction process. It is hoped that this approach will provide a practical access to these compounds for a full evaluation of their biological activity and continued supply.
2. New tandem reaction sequences are to be developed involving organometallic reagents. These should provide simple access to a range of natural product skeletons and other complex organic structures from simple starting materials.
