Project Description
The World Mosquito Program (WMP) is working to protect 100 million people by 2023 across 16 countries with the highest disease burdens of dengue, Zika, chikungunya and yellow fever. Billions of people are at risk of illness or death from these diseases annually.
Over the past 15 years, WMP has worked to develop the Wolbachia intervention. We have shown that our intervention can be practically deployed, can drastically reduce human disease, and is in demand by communities and governments.
Investment by the Macquarie Foundation would enable rapid scale up of our intervention. The need and the ambition is beyond the capacity of any single donor but working collaboratively, a combined investment, has the potential to positively influence the lives of many millions of people that live in daily fear of these diseases.
