Project Description

Plasmonics utilizes the unique optical properties of metals at the nanoscale and has the potential to
revolutionize fields such as sensing, bioassays and optical commnications. The opening of the NCRIS funded Melbourne Centre for Nanofabrication provides a critical opportunity for Australia to become a leader
in the field of plasmonics. To exploit this new national capability, core infrastructure for designing and building
plasmonic components is requested. The Facility, which links the two largest Victorian Universities to CSIRO
and the new, federally funded Melbourne Centre for Nanofabrication, will provide integrated infrastructure for
all Victorian researchers.
