Project Description
The main aim of this proposal is to examine the role of the key pro-oxidant enzyme NADPH oxidase-5 (Nox5) in the development and progression of diabetic kidney disease (DKD) using a novel rabbit model of DKD. The study will provide valuable information about the role of renal oxidative stress in diabetes and will validate Nox5 as a potential therapeutic target to prevent the progression of diabetes associated renal disease.
