Project Details

Project Description

This project aims to determine what explains changes in the composition of species across space and how this differs between rare and common species. Using a novel, information rich concept and metric, the project will combine simulation experiments, with empirical data and field testing using organisms with constrained (plants) and high mobility (birds). Expected outcomes include new theory and models, products for policy and management, new institutional collaborations and student training. The research should provide significant benefits for the accuracy of biodiversity models and predictions, and for understanding and monitoring the
dynamics of common species, such as alien invasions.
