The aim of this research it to model the production of the elements from iron to lead in giant stars using
computer models of nuclear reactions in stellar interiors. This will allow us to investigate the fundamental
question of the origin of these elements as well as the structure of stars and the properties of heavy nuclei.
The derived model predictions will also be used to trace the signature of stellar events in the material from
which new stars form, in the mass transferred onto a companion star in a binary stellar system, and in the
dust and gas present in protoplanetary disks. This will allow us to investigate the history of oldest stars in our
Galaxy, the origin of the Solar System, and the evolution of stellar clusters.
