Two decades of reporting conflict-related sexual and gender-based violence across the world enables us to study the magnitude of the problem across different types of conflict. In this project, we seek to understand the impact of sexual and gender-based violence on the dynamics of conflict. With a mixed method design, we will study all reported incidences of conflict-related sexual and gender-based violence in 41 countries where it has occurred between 1998 and 2018 to establish how and when the reporting of sexual and gender-based violence can prevent further violence and reduce conflict. With this knowledge, we can identify the most high risk situations and phases and improve the risk assessments of such violence during conflict.
