The High Court of Australia's International Impact and Engagement - Enhancing Judicial Accountability and Australia's Place in International Law

Project: Research

Project Details

Project Description

This project investigates unanswered questions about the modern High Court of Australia's two-way relationship with the international legal community in the 21st century. It produces new theoretical and comparative insights that enhance Australian and international understanding of the Court's decision-making, from the twin perspectives of its impact upon the world and the world's impact upon it. It also assesses the Court's influence on other national courts. This is the first major Australian research project to subject the Court to such a wide-ranging, comparative, and integrated analysis of its international engagement. The project promotes one national research priority, 'Safeguarding Australia'.
