This research examines gender pay equality in ten hospitals in the Victorian public health sector. Empirical research is being conducted into pay equality and career progression for medical scientists, pharmacists and psychologists. Surveys of workers in these three professions will be undertaken. The surveys will collect data on pay and position classification, the effect of returning from parental leave on position classification and moving from full-time to part-time employment, non-gender factors that affect career progression and knowledge and use of policies and laws on gender equality. The findings in the research will be used to make proposals for law and policy reform.
