Project Description
The Australian National Advisory Council on Alcohol and Drugs (ANACAD), the principal expert advisory body to the Australian Government (Minister of Health) on issues relating to alcohol and drugs, has requested a review and report on alcohol advertising and sponsorship in sport. Specifically, the project will critically review international and local evidence around the extent, nature, and/or consequences of children and young people’s exposure to alcohol advertising and sponsorship, and address the following areas.
1. Review the current practices in Australia;
2. Review the literature on potential/real harm on children and young people from these practices;
3. Review current regulations in Australia;
4. Identify potential opportunities to reduce exposure and impacts to children and young people; and
5. Estimate the cost of possible actions on key stakeholders.
