Project Details
Project Description
Philosophy, from Democritus onward, has been interested in the nature of colour. The contemporary debate has focussed almost entirely on the philosophical question of what colour is and on only some of colour science. This project will shift the focus of the debate to the equally important question of how perceivers get information about the environment by means of colour vision. The central aim of the project is a new philosophical theory of colour that will be innovative in its orientation and use of the science and significant in altering the tenor of the contemporary debate in the area.
