Project Details
Project Description
Matched pairs of bogus job applications, will be used to investigate whether there is any significant difference in the offers of job interviews on the basis of age. This experimental technique is called correspondence testing. Two applicants, one younger and one older, will apply to advertised job vacancies for various occupations. The applications will differ in detail to avoid detection, but in most essential characteristics such as qualifications will be identical, with the distinguishing characteristic being age. The empirical evidence will provide a sound basis for the current discussion on the formation of Federal anti-discrimination legislation.
