    Project Details

    Project Description

We will address a major problem in materials physics, namely how to tailor the shape of quantum structures including dots, rings, multi-rings and molecules. Our approach is based on real-time imaging of quantum structure crystallisation using the Monash III-V Low Energy Electron Microscope. The video movie data will provide a comprehensive basis for theoretical modelling so that designer quantum structures with unique electronic properties can be fabricated. The approach has the potential to revolutionise optoelectronics, quantum computing and quantum cryptography.
