Project Details
Project Description
The current project will explore students’ perspectives of school-wide practices that most effectively influence belonging in secondary schools. Appreciative Inquiry will be used as a methodological framework to guide students through an affirmative approach of identifying existing practices that promote school belonging and proposed practices that could increase school belonging in the future. Following this, experts in the field of belonging will be involved in linking the identified practices to existing research, and consideration of how the practices identified by students could be embedded within school systems and policy.
The theoretical framework of positive psychology will be used to capitalise on students’ knowledge and agency. The research is solution-focused with the design culminating in a tangible and applied resource for schools.
