Project Description
The Scientific objectives of the proposal:
1. To make in-situ measuements by diffraction techniques, of the strain (from which to determine the stress) in Si particles in an Al-si-Mg metal-matrix composite, as te alloy is loaded in the mechanical testing machine (BST) available at ANSTO
2. To compare the behaviour for loading in tension with that for compression and
3. to examine the results by comparison with the predictions of theoretical models.
