Splice-switching oligonucleotides targeting ACE2 for the treatment of diabetic kidney disease

Project Details

Project Description

Diabetes is the leading cause of chronic kidney disease. Over the last decade our work has shown that Angiotensin Converting Enzyme 2 (ACE2) is important for the development and progression of kidney disease in diabetes. We have discovered a new RNA therapy that is able to safely and selectively increase ACE2 in the kidney. In this project, we will test this RNA therapy in an murine model of type 2 diabetes, as the first step toward a potential new treatment for diabetic kidney disease.
