Project Description
The Climate Change Communication Research Hub and Monash will provide the research, and the visual materials for 24 episodes of Weatherpulse at Weatherzone, that is dedicated to explaining climate change and its impacts. These will comprise monthly climate updates and climate impact packages in 2019 which will build on the Hub's proven record of delivering 50 year climate trends on television and newspapers, based on easy-to-process, factual content, repeated often, by trusted sources to large audiences. We seek funding to develop our capacity to deliver longer-form explanations of climate impacts through the weekly vehicle of Weatherpulse.
Weatherzone have committed to a trial of 24 episodes of such materials, working with the Hub. The packages would alternate between climate updates, and a focus on climate impacts in 5 main areas: Health, Economics, Agriculture, Sport and the Environment, and draw in expertise from right across Monash University that is brokered by our members in a range of Faculties. The packages are between 2-4 minutes and require much more research than simply delivering time-series graphs, with deliverables comprising charts, maps, infographs, tables, figures, animations, photographs and video clips.
