Project Description
Through the Reef 2050 Long-Term Sustainability Plan, the Reef Joint Management Program (RJFMP), is responsible for monitoring and reporting on key seabird populations throughout the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area (GBRWHA) to establish trends in these populations. Information gained through such monitoring is essential for informing management actions to protect and conserve important seabird nesting sites. This project will bring together seabird and technology experts to trial methods to improve breeding population estimates of target species and thereby increase the ability to detect changes in populations. The project also explores sustainable methods of monitoring fledging success as a proxy for determining the breeding success of a population during any given season.
