Project Description

Safer Cities Crowd Mapping Project is a collaborative research project that engages the wider community to foster inclusion or support for under-represented, disadvantaged or marginalised groups. Designed to enable
more inclusive public spaces the interactive map and communication platform aims to understand equity, access and use of public spaces by providing women and gender-diverse people a mode to map their perceptions of safety in public spaces.
CrowdSpot and Monash University XYX Lab have developed the Safer Cities Crowd Mapping Project, as an accessible digital platform to advance evidence-based research into the experiences of public safety and amenity for women, girls and gender-diverse people. The disaggregated findings, data sets, and visualisation provide insights and evidence into how these spaces are deemed safe or unsafe in local communities.
