Project Description
Logical rules are very important but rather neglected in discussions of the foundations of logic. There is an urgent need for a thorough investigation of the general idea of what is a rule of logic, the classification of different kinds of rules of logic, and the types of distinctions that can be drawn amongst rules of logic. A sustained and unified treatment of rules of logic, of the kind proposed here, will be a major contribution to our understanding of the foundations of logic. The projected research will issue in the publication of a major book on rules of logic.
