Project Description

Poor understanding of road safety interventions and substantially sub-optimal choices of actions to address the problem are common in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). To facilitate decision makers in LMICs, an analytical tool named Road Safety Calculator was developed at the World Bank, which needs to be improved and expanded. The Calculator is expected to provide estimates of road safety benefits resulting from adoption of specific intervention or combination of interventions. This research project aims to identify the effectiveness of several interventions related to road safety through a systematic review. The systematic review ensures a better basis for estimating benefits by reviewing a larger body of the literature and obtain an exhaustive summary of current evidence relevant to the intervention in reducing fatal, severe injury and minor injury crashes as applicable. The outcome of the systematic review will be the value of a relative risk index with the confidence interval C.I., which is estimated through a systematic review of quantitative evaluation
studies conducted to assess the effectiveness of a specific intervention in reducing risk of fatal, severe and minor injuries as applicable.
