This research consultancy undertaken for the Australian Conservation Foundation explored law reform options under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) for improving the environmental performance of Australian companies The project analysed how the Corporations Act currently requires, allows, incentivises or disincentivises positive environmental performance, and recommended a series of reforms to disclosure and reporting, director's duties and provisions governing shareholder resolutions to improve this performance. Reform recommendations drew on experiences and models used in comparable jurisdictions such as the United Kingdom, United States and European Union.
