Review of Caritas Australia's Translation and Interpretation processes

Project: Research

Project Details

Project Description

Caritas Australia (CA) is Australia's Catholic agency for international humanitarian relief and development, and their engagement includes partners whose first language is not English. CA also appreciates that effective and efficient translation/interpretation within the development and humanitarian context depends on accurate and contextualised translation. CA is also aware of some challenges in interpreting and translation such as reliance on partners and organisational staff, limited resources and new opportunities to use digital solutions. CA is interested in learning more about how we can engage with these partners using their first language. This proposal aims to identify the languages used by partners and provide recommendations on creating sustainable translation and interpretation systems.
