This study aims to:
1. Examine the patterns of turnover and retention observed amongst
a. All rural Victorian GPs; and
b. Newly qualified rural Victorian GPs; and
2. Quantify factors that are significantly associated with turnover and retention of these groups of GPs.
These research findings will not only fill important knowledge gaps, but also enable policymakers to assess appropriate retention policy options specifically relevant to the state of Victoria which might better target different groups of GPs. The findings will also allow comparison with the findings of similar research already conducted among NSW rural GPs.
Rural Workforce Agency Victoria (RWAV) have requested that Monash Rural Health undertake the research as suggested in the attached proposal. There is a current MOU between RWAV and Monash, however, a Research Services Agreement will need to be prepared and signed by both parties to complete this work and receive the funding. RWAV will not fund the cost of overheads, space charges or any dissemination costs (conference attendance, etc).
A request will be submitted to the Contracts Management Office to prepare this Research Services Agreement. The Cost Centre for the funding for this project will be M37007.
