Project Details

Project Description

The goal of the project is to establish a radiochemistry research laboratory at Monash Biomedical Imaging (MBI) for the development of PET and SPECT diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals for research applications.

The laboratory aims to address the following current capability problems in the National Imaging Facility:

• Absence of radiochemistry laboratory facilities in Victoria for research synthesis, purification and
dispensing;
• Limited workforce and production of new radiopharmaceuticals slows progress from trials into therapies and medicines;
• Inability to produce advanced radiopharmaceuticals locally limits growth in the biomedical industry and innovation in Australia’s nuclear medicine market;
