Project Description
In this work, we will explore the behaviour under shear of a series of betaine surfactants that are known to form wormlike micellar solutions. This will be achieved by preparing various aqueous solutions of a specially formulated series of these zwitterionic surfactant molecules, and measuring the structural and rheological properties as a function of concentration, temperature and shear rate. This study, which aims to expand on recent work conducted on QUOKKA and KOOKABURRA, will use coupled rheology and rheo-SANS data to correlate the bulk rheological information to the molecular arrangement, nanostructure and self-assembly conditions within systems.
