Protonic Materials for Green Chemical Futures

Project: Research

Project Details

Project Description

Developing the ability to design and manipulate the properties of protons in functional materials is the key to new chemical technologies that can assist society's transformation towards sustainability. My group has recently discovered a family of ionic materials that offer a unique platform from which to develop a fundamental understanding of these important properties. In this project we will design advanced protonic materials using a bio-inspired approach. With national and international collaborators we will apply these materials in the fields of renewable energy generation, energy storage and carbon dioxide utilisation. This will create an exciting training ground in chemical sustainability for a new generation of scientists.
