Project Details
Project Description
The road transport industry exposes personnel to a range of operating schedules and practices, placing them at increased risk of fatigue, with potential consequences to the health and safety of the driver and others on the road. Worldwide, 20% of road transport fatalities and 40% of roll overs involve driver fatigue. The potential of fatigue to impact on road safety requires improved detection of drivers' fatigue levels while driving to enable targeted interventions.
The objective of the current project is to determine what impact (if any) the Holux fatigue detection device has on driving behaviour in a real world setting. The project will be the first to provide information on the accuracy of the Holux device in predicting fatigue related events among Shell road transport drivers while driving.
